Version 10 of Microsoft's multimedia player.
The
player that is included in the default Windows installation is more than valid, it doesn't require a specially powerful computer and by only adding a decent codec pack to is, it is more or less ready to be able to
play practically anything, so we could say that
Windows Media Player 10 can be described as a good player.
Windows Media Player 10 plays both audio and video, and to do so it includes the codecs for the Microsoft formats, WMA (Audio) and WMV (Video) as well as supporting (without any codec pack) the Audio CD,
DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, WMA , WMV,
MP3, MPG and AVI formats. So we won't need anything to play the most common files and formats. On the other hand, if we want to
play a DivX or similar file, we will need a codec pack.
What's more,
Windows Media Player 10 includes skins, and
three viewing modes: normal, full screen and compact, this one being very suitable to keep the player at the front without occupying space on the screen.
Windows Media Player 10 has a
library where we can keep all our multimedia files organized without problems and even
synchronize it with compatible MP3 player. And if what we want is to
transform a CD to MP3, we will also be able to do so without problems.
As any good player,
Windows Media Player 10 allows to
equalize the music and the videos that we are watching or listening to with a complete equalizer, and if we want to add effects, it
includes various plug-ins to modify and improve sound.
If we have an Internet connection, Windows Media Player can show us information regarding the latest film premieres, concerts, etc..., and it will also be able to show us all the information regarding any Audio CD or DVD-Video that we place in the CD/DVD drive.
Note: This multimedia player is compatible with Windows XP.
